5 Myths of Beer

1. Beer Belly
Does beer really cause a beer belly? Well, no. It doesn't cause weight change in a person. What most people call their "beer belly" is in reality that persons own laziness. Don't blame the beer, blame yourself!

2. Psychedelic Absinthe
You think that a liquor called "Absinthe" will really make you "trip" and that's why it's illegal? Ha, jokes on you.. No liquor is going to make you trip. The actual substance in the liquor that is said to make you hallucinate has a small trace amount in the actual drink.

3. American Beer is Weak
Some countries say that Americas beer is way weaker than those in other countries. This would disappoint those who actually believe this silly myth. In reality, America measures there alcohol content in percent while other do it by volume making it look like there beer is stronger.

4. Nightcap
Some people think that a nice drink before they go to bed would be relaxing and help you pass out. Yes, it may help you pass out, but after a few hours you will wake right back up and be in the same position as before. Why not just save your health and pass out like a normal human being by counting sheep?

5. No Hangover
I posted last time that the 5 hour energy or the pills were a cure to the hangover. Well, reality, there is more than just those for a cure. Scientist believe that a bacon sandwich will cure you right up. They say that the carbohydrates in bread and protein in bacon are the natural cure.

More In Depth Reasonings

There's a Cure?!

Since the beginning of time, everyone has always wanted that one perfect cure to a hangover. Do you think that there really is one? Well, actually there is. Dr. Oz was on Oprah a couple years ago and said that what you should do is "take advil or tylenol before you go to bed and make eggs when you wake up in the morning." Yes, this could possibly help, but do you really think painkillers and eggs will really make you feel like daisies the day? No.

There are actually two brands of pills that you can buy that are made to cure a hangover. Alcohol-X is a brand where you take two pills with 16-oz of water after your last drink. The other one is Chaser plus. Chaser Plus is the same as Alcohol-X except you take two pills before and two pills after. But, do you really think that you will remember to take those two pills after that last drink? Will you even remember your last drink? Well, another cure is to actually drink a 5 hour energy shot before you start drinking. It really does work ;P

There are other cures as well that you can buy from the store as well.

Where are you legal?

There is a legal drinking age in most of the countries. In the United States, it is 21, and everyone should know that. 21 is the oldest drinking age that any country can have. In fact, only three other countries besides the US have that high of a drinking age. Sri Lanka, Palau, and Pakistan are the only other places that have that high of a drinking age. In Pakistan though, you are not allowed to drink at all if you are Muslim.

Surprisingly, some places actually don't have a drinking age at all. Places like Albania, Jamaica, Morrocco, Swaziland, and Tonga. There are some countries that have a low drinking age of 16, like Fiji, Germany, Greece, Norway, Poland, and Portugal. 17 is a happy medium age, right? You would think that there would have more countries than just Cyprus that would legally allowed to drink, but actually, its the only one. Even though these countries have low drinking ages, do not get caught driving. The punishment for drinking and driving much worse in these countries.

How to pass a breathalizer!

There are many superstitions that there are ways to pass a breathalizer. Some rumors are that you can put a penny under your tongue, some think that drinking a bunch of water will wash the alcohol out of your breath, and some people just keep mouthwash on them to make there breath smell better. Do you think that these tricks will actually help you pass the breathalizer?

The penny trick is said to work because of the high level of copper in the penny and thats said to "trick" the breathalizer. Do you really think that something worth 1 cent is going to make you pass a breathalizer? The penny trick is actually a myth, and in reality, pennies have been made of 97.5% zinc since the 1980's.

Drinking water is another way people try to pass a breathalizer. They think it will wash down all the alcohol into your stomach. The problem with this is that a breathalizer doesn't actually test the alcohol in your mouth, it tests the alcohol in your lungs. Although, personally, I have seen people pass a breathalizer from drinking a bunch of water. I have also heard of people passing by actually chugging beer right up till you take the breathalizer, but I highly do NOT recomend this.

Others think that mouthwash would work. HA. Tricks on you! Mouthwash contains alcohol. It may mask the smell of the alcohol but in reality it could higher your BAC.

Don't get your hopes up to much that these tricks will work, cause chances are, they wont.

"You know what my drink is? Jack Daniel's. Yes, that is a wild man drink. That should come with bail money, you know what I'm saying? Because on Jack, you don't know where you're going to end up, but you know when you get there, you won't be wearing any pants."

History

The only way to understand any concept, idea, or even physical thing, you must know the history. The first recorded fermentated drink was produced from honey and wild yeast in 8000 B.C.

Over the years, it has gone through alot and advanced in many ways. It started with just beer working its way to having beer, liquor, and wine as its main 3 groups. Yet in each group there are 100's or even 1000's of different types or flavors.

In the 1850's, a group of New York bartenders invented the first cocktail. Cocktails became used in higher class bars. Then in 1862, Abraham Lincoln used a liquor tax to help for the civil war. In 1910, the first laws on drunk-driving were inforced in New York. Then in 2000, they began using BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of .08 or above to determine if a person was to drunk to drive. Although as a minor, you have to blow .00, but god forbid you blow a .014.. You'll get a minor in consumption, I promise bro. Oh, and if you think they forgot about your minor and you think they wont send your court papers, give it time.. Itll be a sad day if you get your hopes and you still get them.
